Well I have to admit Frances I don't know what I was thinking when I signed up for the Children's Literature correspondence class.  Being among students, classmates and you is much more enjoyable and enlightening than being stuck in a children's literature book with no one to entertain me but myself.  Your personality is one of the many things I enjoy about your class.  Unlike most of the students, I enjoy the flexibility in your class and know that being flexible is something I will have to be and do in my own classroom, as situations arise.
I have to admit I was a little scared of the idea of coaching 8th graders in literature, but I need the experience.
What I am hoping to get out of this class is an understanding of the different genres of children's literature and resources for my future teaching.  I also look forward to being introduced to a variety of children authors and illustrators.  In my correspondence class I did alot of answer hunting and didn't really get into enjoying children's literature.  I had to read children's books and write in depth reviews and analyze.  Most of the time the books were given to us with no choice...boring!  In your class we are reading our choice of children's books in different genres, which makes it way more enjoyable.  I have come to realize that giving your students choices is one way to keep them engaged, focused and learning.
